UJIA Magic Moments
delegates from the north of
Israel are arrived in the
UK (15 to
Thursday 22 April 2010) to
join communities in mourning
the Israeli war dead and
victims of terror on Yom Hazikaron. Ten communities
across the country welcomed over 60 Israeli
teenagers from UJIA's
partnership region, the
Galil, in northern Israel,
who will be leading
inspiring Yom Hazikaron
ceremonies.
The young Israelis aged 15 -
17 come from the
regions of Ma'ale Yosef,
Meron HaGalil and Shlomi,
all located along Israel's
northern border. In addition
to leading the Yom Hazikaron
commemoration and
celebrating Yom Ha'atzmaut,
the teens spent
the week leading educational
sessions in schools and
volunteering in their host
communities. They lived with local
families and got to know
what life is like for Jewish
teenagers in the Diaspora.
"It is our privilege to
welcome this year's Magic
Moments delegation and we
look forward to a memorable
week. We are proud to be
hosting these talented young
Israelis. Their visit
strengthens the Living
Bridge between the UK and
the Galil by bringing their
personal interpretations of
Yom Hazikaron to our
communities."
