Round-Up October 2008
In this months issue:
Rosh
Hashanah
On Monday evening 29th September it will be Erev Rosh Hashanah and we
will be welcoming in the New Year 5769 . Services will be held in the
Shul, at Cockfosters and Hadley Wood.
Shacharit services will commence at 8.00am on Tuesday 30th September the
1st Day of Rosh Hashanah in the Shul and Cockfosters and at 9.30am at
Hadley Wood. The reading of the Law will take place at 9.45am.
Shofar blowing will be at 10.45am.
Mincha and Mariv Services will be at 6.25pm
The services for the 2nd Day of Rosh Hashanah will also be at the same
times.
There will be an Explanatory Service in the Maurice Tilkoff Hall on the
first Day of Rosh Hashanah , commencing at 10.30am.
Candles should be lit at 6.10pm on Monday evening and at 7.27pm on
Tuesday evening.
Yom
Kippur
Erev Yom Kippur is on Wednesday 8th October and the
fast begins at 6.08pm.
Kol Nidrei will start in the Shul at 6.25pm and there will be a sermon
by Rabbi Fine.
On Yom Kippur the Shacharit service will commence at 8.30am and there
will be an explanatory service in the Maurice Tilkoff Hall at 11.00am
The Memorial Service –Yizkor – will be at 12.15pm and there will be a
sermon in Cockfosters at 12.45pm
Neilah will start at 5.30pm and the Fast ends at 7.07pm.
Succot
The Festival begins at 5.57pm on Monday evening the 13th October. On
the First Day of Succot, the Shacharit service commences at 9.00am.
Mincha and Maariv services start at 5.55pm and the lighting of Yom Tov
candles should be after 6.57pm.
On the Second Day of Succot, Shacharit service starts at 9.00am and
there will be a Baby Blessing Ceremony.
The Festival of Shemini Atzeret begins on Monday evening the 20th
October at 5.42pm and on Tuesday the 21st October there will be a
Shacharit service in the Shul at 9.00am and also at Freston Gardens,
Cockfoster.
Simchat
Torah
On Tuesday evening 21st October, Maariv and Hakafot will be at
6.42pm, with Yom Tov candles being lit after this time.
Then on Wednesday morning the 22nd October the Shacharit service in
the Shul will start at 8.30am. There will be a Reception for the
Chatanim, Barry Grant and Adam Gersch after the service.

Evening Minyan
In order to ensure that we get a minyan every evening at the Shul, Barry
Grant has set up a Rota system. The rota will be operating on a
four-weekly basis and will be run by a number of volunteers who answered
Barry’s letter sent out recently. If you would like to join the rota,
