Cockfosters & N Southgate Synagogue is a long-established community, founded in 1948, and serving the Jewish population of Southgate, Cockfosters and Hadley Wood – with over 1100 members and covering an area almost 5 miles across.

Our synagogue in Old Farm Avenue, Southgate, is backed up by Minyanim held regularly in Cockfosters and now also in Hadley Wood.

Unlike most communities in London we have been successful in maintaining the membership numbers and this is very much due to the enthusiasm and hard work of all the numerous groups and committees that look after the varied needs and interests of the community.

Rabbi Yisroel Fine.

The community is headed up by Rabbi Yisroel Fine who finds the time to lead the services in all three locations as well as looking after all the religious and communal needs. Click Here to read more about him.

The community is located in a particularly pleasant part of North London and although it covers more than 10 square miles it is still very close knit. Our main synagogue in Old Farm Avenue is well located for the Southgate members, whilst those living in Cockfosters have only a short walk to their local minyan. Hadley Wood have also overcome their distance from the Shul by running their own local minyan.
